Van’s Fifth in the Summer……….

Van’s Fifth in the Summer……….Introduced in 2000 in Chikushino, located halfway between Hakata and Kurume on Japan’s southernmost island Kyushu, Ramen Danbo features a menu based around traditional Tonkotsu ramen, one of the most popular types in Japan. In May 2015, Ramen Danbo brought its authentic Fukuoka-style Tonkotsu ramen to North America with a location on West 4th Ave in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood. And this was quickly followed just six-months later a second Vancouver location, on Robson St in the downtown area. Then, in late Summer 2017, the first Ramen Danbo in the U.S. opened in Capital Hill in Seattle followed in late 2018 by a location in Brooklyn in New York. Since then, two more restaurants have opened in the Vancouver area, in Kerrisdale and Lonsdale Ave in North Vancouver, a second in New York City in the West Village area and in mid-2025, the chain opened a location in Wimbledon in London in the U.K. Earlier in May, the chain announced that it is opening another Vancouver location later in Summer 2026, a street front location at 3982 Main St in the Riley Park-Little Mountain neighbourhood. In addition, the chain reports that it is seeking sites for new locations in the Vancouver and Toronto area in Canada as well as New York City, Boston, Portland and San Francisco in the U.S.
