In mid-May, owner/operator Denis Melhem opens his second Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Edmonton and the fourth Dickey’s Barbecue restaurant in the city. This latest location is opening is at the Harvest Hills Market at 5250 Ellerslie Rd SW in Southeast Edmonton’s rapidly growing Ellerslie neighborhood. The barbecue brand, which has been serving smoked favorites since opening its first location in Texas in 1941, features classic American staples such as sliced or chopped brisket, coleslaw, barbecue beans and potato salad. In addition, the new Edmonton location will also serve chicken wings, fall-off-the-bone ribs, loaded baked potatoes and brisket burnt ends. Dickey’s first entered the Canadian market in Summer 2022 with its first location on Mullen Rd in northwest Edmonton and plans for over 65 across the country. With this latest addition, the chain now operates 13 locations in Alberta, ten in Ontario and one in Quebec. The Dickey’s Barbecue Pit restaurants are outfitted with a hickory wood-burning pit, open kitchen, and family-friendly dining room and can operate in units of about 1500 square feet. Melhem opened his first Dickey’s in mid-2024 in the Manning Town Centre in northeast Edmonton.
