Smitty’s, one of the country’s largest all-day family restaurant chains, is planning to reach 100 locations across the country by 2025. Currently, the casual dining chain operates over 80 restaurants across the country, serving up a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. In addition to locations, Smitty’s is also seeking franchisees across Canada, with the exception of Quebec, and presently has market opportunities in Ontario, including the greater Toronto area, and potential markets throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The chain targets high traffic and highly visible street locations in addition to freestanding pad sites and end caps, with patios where possible. Small towns units require approximately 2,500 square feet, larger markets accommodating dining and lounges approximating 3,500 square feet. Smitty’s Canada was acquired by Equicapita Group of Companies, a private equity firm, in April 2018.
