With openings in Sudbury and in Burlington in July and openings in Scarborough and Londin in Ontario and in Coquitlam in British Columbia that are in the works, the Calgary-based Modern Beauty Supplies chain counts about 50 locations, well on the way to its goal of about 90 locations by 2030. The chain presently has locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario serving the country’s beauty professionals, providing a full range of high-quality spa and salon supplies, equipment and furniture. In operation since 1986, Modern Beauty Supplies has become one of the largest privately-owned beauty suppliers in Canada and the sole distributor of several highly recognized brands. The chain generally locates in a range of open sites from large format centres to freestanding units and generally in sizes ranging from 2800 to 4000 square feet. The real estate responsibilities for Modern Beauty in Ontario are shared with Janis MacDougall and Kelly Farraj at The Behar Group Realty are handling the company’s site selection in the greater Toronto area to Oakville and Fraser Vrenjak, Bob Vrenjak and Benjamin Bach at Cushman & Wakefield Waterloo Region handle Southwestern Ontario.
