Almost 90-years in operation, the family-owned and operated Bobcaygeon, Ontario-based has just opened a plaza location on Beaver Lake Rd in Kelowna in B.C. and has rebranded two recently acquired locations, Ice Cream Mountain on the TransCanada Hwy at the entrance to the Goldstream Provincial Park in Victoria, B.C. and Fun in the Sun in Southampton in Bruce County in southwestern Ontario. In addition, the chain is preparing to open a freestanding 4600 square foot dairy and scoop shop on St Joseph Blvd at Orleans Blvd in the Orleans suburban community east of Ottawa. Expected to open by mid-May, it will be the chain’s second drive-thru location. Kawartha Dairy is a traditional dairy that features premium milk, ice cream and dairy products made with fresh milk and fresh cream and ice cream scoop shop features over 35 flavours of its rich and creamy ice cream, along with a selection of locally sourced dairy and non-dairy products. Presently there are about 20 year-round retail locations in Ontario and British Columbia and the company continues to grow, targeting highly visible 2200 to 4000 square foot location for its full-service model and 1200 to 2000 square feet for its scoop shop-type sites. High traffic sites in high density markets and near schools, recreational facilities, etc. are targeted. Josh Harris at Colliers Canada handles the company’s real estate search in Canada and adds that the chain is actively seeking sites in southwestern Ontario and especially in the Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and London areas. End cap units or pads in the 2500 square foot range, with or without drive-thrus are targeted.
