Founded in 1938, Mondou has grown from a farm animal feed distributor into one of Quebec’s larger pet wellness retailers with about 100 stores across the province along with an eCommerce platform, offering food, accessories, grooming products, and wellness solutions for dogs, cats, birds, and small animals. Most of the stores include a range of services for pets, including nail trimming, doggie wash, pet scale and carry-out services. In addition to a wide selection of frozen raw food for cats and dogs, Mondou stores also include exclusive in-house brands like Vetdiet and BeOneBreed, reinforcing its focus on specialized nutrition and care. The Montreal-based family-owned chain is now exploring expansion opportunities in the Quebec City market and has retained Joshua Hasen and Scott Chisling at Aurora Realty Consultants to handle the search. The chain is seeking a smaller format neighbourhood store in a smaller footprint of about 1500 square feet, designed for urban sites to allow Mondou to get closer to its community and clients and providing a range of essential products and services. And the chain continues to source traditional stores up to about 4500 square feet. The search generally targets freestanding and street front sites as well as strip plazas with convenient accessible parking.
