In mid-2020, Montreal-restauranteurs and Daniel Maislin opened Pizza Toni, a New York-style pizza slice shop on St Viateur St West offering New York-style pizzas and ‘Grandma’ style square pies in five classic choices, cheese, marinara, margherita and pepperoni along with the square pie, available by the slice or by the pie. After developing a loyal following in Montreal’s Mile End neighbourhood, in late 2024 a second Pizza Toni opened on Notre Dame St West in the city’s emerging St Henri neighbourhood. Then, earlier this week, Pizza Toni announced plans for a third location, a 2200 square foot location in a Groupe MACH plaza at 3800 Boul des Sources in Montreal’s West Island. The unit is expected to open by October 2026. In addition to the opening, Pizza Toni is also expanding its menu selection, providing more options, offering a larger selection of new unique toppings, from organic mushrooms to vegan cheese, to personalize the pies. The quick casual chain’s expansion, largely opportunity-driven, is planned for Brossard in the South Shore area, Laval in the North Shore and potentially another location in Montreal.
