Last week, the third restaurant in Canada opened at the Kingsview Market in Airdrie, a community located about 35 kilometres north of Calgary. The quick casual Italian brand feature quality fast, fresh Italian-style food with a menu that includes freshly prepared pasta entrees, sub sandwiches, salads, pizza and desserts, emphasizing its quick service, value pricing, and family-friendly dining and is known for its signature unlimited breadsticks. One of the largest QSR Italian chain in the U.S., Fazoli’s was introduced in Lexington in Kentucky in 1988 and is currently owned by the Los Angeles-based FAT Brands restaurant group who franchises and operates about 220 locations in over 25 states. In mid-2024, FAT Brands signed a development agreement with Calgary-based Briwin Restaurants Inc. to open 25 units in Canada over ten years. Two locations have been opened, in the Mahogany Village Commons in southeast Calgary and at the Cornerstone Shopping Centre on Southridge Dr. in Okotoks, a community located about 40 kilometres south of Calgary. The Fazoli’s restaurants utilize various prototypes including a 1700 square foot location as well as the 2200 to 2500 square foot format.
