For the month of March, the Burlington, Ontario -based WingsUp! chain of quick service restaurants is adding a little taste of Ireland to its menu. For the full month, an Irish Stout BBQ sauce, with the taste of Guinness, the Irish dry stout, will be available on the menu. Operating since 1988 and franchising since 1996, the WingsUp! restaurants feature premium chicken wings in a wide variety of flavours along with sandwiches, wraps and sides. The menu features100 percent fresh, never-frozen, Canadian chicken, always hand-cut, freshly battered and breaded and everything is cooked to order. All of the restaurants, presently about 34, are in Ontario, the majority in Southern Ontario, with more planned. A second location in Guelph and a location at Liberty Village in downtown Toronto are opening shortly and several more are in the works including locations in Western Canada. Richard Greville at Goudy Real Estate Corp. handles the real estate activities for WingsUp! and notes that there will be at least 40 restaurants operational by the end of 2024. The chain locates in highly visible 900 to 1400 square foot units with convenient access in or near open neighbourhood and regional centres. Street front locations in high traffic, dense population areas are also considered.
