What A Bagel is a family-oriented bakery and bagel chain serving the Greater Toronto and surrounding area. With its latest opening in late September at the new Mapleview West Marketplace in south Barrie, there are 13 What A Bagel locations. Introduced by Joseph Farbman in 1997, the company is now in its third generation of family ownership, operated by Ronnie Farbman. The bagels are made from scratch using natural ingredients and are baked fresh throughout the day. In addition to bagels, What A Bagel’s bakeries offer pastries and a variety of breakfast and lunch options. The company also provides catering services for corporate events, family functions, and breakfast or lunch gatherings. Customers can customize catering orders with party platters, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and other choices. What A Bagel has established a broad presence in the GTA and being a franchise concept, expansion is anticipated. Ronnie Farbman is handling the franchising and Braydon Bumpus and Robert Weinberg at Oberfeld Snowcap are handling the site selection in Ontario seeking 2200 to 2500 square foot locations, generally in grocery-anchored power centres.
