Magnolia Bakery, the New York City-based dessert brand, has signed a franchise agreement to open ten locations across Ontario, marking its first entry into Canada, according to global media platform Fran.News. The expansion will be led by multi-unit franchise operators Chetanshi and Shaishav ‘Shay’ Thakkar and represents the company’s eighth international market. Founded in 1996 in New York City’s West Village, Magnolia Bakery is recognized for its Banana Pudding, cupcakes and classic American baked goods. The company operates corporate stores in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, alongside about 40 international locations across seven markets. The Ontario agreement follows the launch of Magnolia Bakery’s formal franchising program in 2025 and supports its target of reaching 50 international locations by the end of 2026. Magnolia Bakery’s flagship locations are generally in a 1200 to 2000 square foot range and the no-bake stores are in a 600 to 800 square foot range.
