In January, multi-brand franchisee Redberry Restaurants acquired the rights for Canada for the Jersey Mike’s Subs quick service restaurant chain as the Area Developer with a development agreement to open 300 Jersey Mike’s restaurants across Canada by 2034. The plans include franchisee growth as well as Redberry building their own stores. To support this growth, Redberry has assembled a team to drive the successful launch and expansion of Jersey Mike’s Subs throughout Canada. Paul Pascal joins Redberry as Director of Operations for Jesey Mike’s Subs and Stephen Scarrow joins Redberry as Senior Marketing Manager responsible for leading the Jersey Mike’s marketing portfolio. Darryl McMaster joins as District Manager to oversee the operations of the newly acquired Jersey Mike’s Subs locations in Kitchener and London in Southwestern Ontario and Kim Birns has been named Training Manager. Jack Belardi has joined the development team as Real Estate Manager and Johan Malmqvist has been appointed Construction Project Manager supporting the build of new Jersey Mike’s locations as the company expands across Canada. Redberry has also hired three experienced Restaurant General Managers Jay Haynes, Dian Carlos and Dona Raji. These locations will be completely remodeled in the Summer to reflect the new Jersey Mike’s image. Redberry also announced plans to add several more Ontario locations in 2024. Locations at 8600 Woodbine Ave in Markham and at the York Mills Gardens at 808 York Mills Rd in York Mills are now confirmed for Summer openings and in the Fall, a location is scheduled for the Toronto Union Station in the city’s downtown. In addition, three more openings for 2024 are under discussion. Jersey Mike’s locations are generally in the 1200 to 1800 square foot range. Shared pads or outparcels and end caps are preferred with about 20 feet of frontage. Outside seating is strongly preferred.
