After relocating to Toronto in 1999, business partners Sat Chouhan and Jessie Sahdra used their experience gained in the Montreal bagel business to launch The Bagel House featuring the authentic Montreal-style bagels in Toronto. With this latest addition, a 2131 square foot exterior unit at the Promenade Centre in Thornhill, the specialty chain operates six locations in the GTA featuring the hand-crafted fresh baked bagels along with a menu of various breakfast and deli-style bagel sandwiches. Continued growth in the GTA, targeting the Avenue Rd, the Eglinton or Bathurst-Allen Rd on Eglinton area and the Annex – Yorkville area. Street front locations are a minimum 850 square feet for express concept and a useable basement area with a minimum seven-foot ceiling height. These units would not require venting. Units of 1500 to 2500 square feet or more must have venting capabilities for a wood burning oven. Basements of a minimum 700 square feet or storage area of the same size is necessary. Preferred to have rear door for loading/unloading and street front parking or nearby parking is required. The units are traditionally 24 hours.
