In mid-July, Danish-inspired jewelry brand Pilgrim opens a 640 square foot location in the Oshawa Centre in Oshawa, bringing the chain to eleven stores in Quebec and Ontario. Known for its handmade, stylish accessories, Pilgrim originated in Denmark in the early 1980s as a small maker of handmade jewelry rooted in art, music, and personal connections. Robert Hayes, CEO of Pilgrim North America, introduced the line to North America in 2015 and in 2019 opened in a pop-up store that later transitioned into a permanent location in Place Montreal Trust in downtown Montreal. Presently the Pilgrim brand is available in about 550 independent specialty stores across Canada, on an eCommerce platform and in major malls in the Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, London and Toronto markets.
