Portuguese Chicken Served in Supermarket……..Last week, Piri-Piri Rôtisserie Portugaise opened a unique full menu location in the Intermarche Logoria supermarket on Boul Langelier in the St Leonard area in northeast Montreal. And partner and franchise director Mahmoud Chahrour adds that later in July, a unit opens in the food court at Promenades Drummondville in Drummondville and a satellite location is opening in the Premium Outlets Montreal in Mirabel to bring the Montreal-based chain to 16 locations in Quebec. Introduced on Masson St in Montreal in 2012, the franchise chain features an authentic Portuguese-style grilled chicken menu along with traditional dishes, served quickly in a casual atmosphere. The quick service restaurants emphasize fresh, flavorful rotisserie and charcoal-grilled meats, custom sauces, and a menu ranging from classic chicken cuts to sandwiches and signature ‘Piri Bols’. Expansion continues with food court units opening in early Fall in the Montreal Eaton Centre in downtown Montreal and in Carrefour Laval in Laval. In addition, the chain is preparing to open its first location outside of Quebec, reported to be in Ottawa. Dan Knafo at Dan Knafo Real Estate Services handles the site selection for the chain and notes that expansion is largely franchise driven. The search continues for individuals, entrepreneurs and multi-unit operators in several regions in Quebec and Ontario. Piri-Piri Rotisserie restaurants target high traffic street and plaza locations in the 1200 to 1800 square foot range. The chain is particularly interested in former restaurant locations with hood and ventilation. The brand also operates in food court locations.
