Efficient Smaller Units in DT TO…………..

Pizza Pizza Ltd. has recently adopted a new expansion strategy focused on aggressively growing its presence in downtown Toronto. As part of this initiative, the company has developed a construction model that allows it to efficiently operate in much smaller spaces, typically ranging from 200 to 700 square feet. “In addition, we have introduced a new construction approach that enables us to target smaller markets with populations of approximately 10,000 to 20,000 people or even less,” explained Director, Real Estate Alireza Moblsazfard. “Historically, these markets were not viable for us due to the high build-out costs, but this new model has significantly improved feasibility.” Discussions are currently underway for what will be the first of the smaller format units, a 500 square foot street front location in downtown Toronto that is anticipated for later this year. And with regards to the smaller market expansion, construction is presently underway in Chelmsford, a community located about 20 kilometres northwest of Sudbury, Ontario, and in New Minas, about 100 kilometres northwest of Halifax in Nova Scotia. Launched in Toronto in 1967, the franchise chain presently counts over 750 quick service pizza restaurants across Canada.
