In late July, Redberry Restaurants, the Area Director for Canada for the Jersey Mike’s Subs chain of quick service submarine restaurants, entered the British Columbia market with a 1700 square foot end unit in a shared pad at the Central Park Power Centre on Banks Rd. in Kelowna. It is the 35th Jersey Mike’s location in Canada and the fifth province for the 70-year-old New Jersey-based chain. Later this year, Redberry will increase its Jersey Mike’s footprint in B.C. with a 2200 square foot street front location on W. 4th Ave., west of Burrard St. in Vancouver’s Kitsilano, and a 2380 square foot former C-Lovers Fish & Chips location in the Sardis Square at Vedder Rd at Luckakuck Way in Chilliwack. With over 3200 locations across North America, Jersey Mike’s features a menu of made-to-order submarine sandwiches, wraps, cheesesteaks and salads, with fresh meats, cheeses, vegetables, breads and signature toppings. Redberry Restaurants acquired the Canadian Area Developer rights for Jersey Mike’s in 2024 with plans to open 300 restaurants over ten years. Currently there are locations open from Ontario to British Columbia. Jersey Mike’s locations are generally in the 1200 to 1800 square foot range. Shared pads or outparcels and end caps are preferred with about 20 feet of frontage. Outside seating is strongly preferred.
