Developers Harden and Crombie have announced the addition of Dollarama and McDonald’s to Faubourg Contrecœur, their new commercial development in Montreal’s Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. These additions bring the project to full occupancy, marking a significant milestone as construction continues. Dollarama will occupy approximately 9,726 square feet, while McDonald’s will take 3,046 square feet, with both expected to open by late Summer or early Fall. The development’s anchor tenant, a 40,020 square foot IGA Extra grocery store, is scheduled to open in mid-August 2026. Developed as a partnership between Harden and Crombie, the 52,000 square foot Faubourg Contrecœur is designed to provide residents with a convenient, necessity-based retail destination that meets everyday shopping needs while supporting affordability. Tyler Harden, Co-CEO of Harden, said the project reflects the partners’ commitment to creating long-term value for the community through quality retail offerings. Located at 3553 rue de Contrecœur, at the intersection of rue Sherbrooke Est and rue de Contrecœur, the fully leased centre is expected to become a key shopping hub serving the over 108,000 people in the trade area.
