Introduced in August 2016 as a quick service hybrid food concept featuring a sushi and burrito combination in a fresh wrap-style, convenient for the on-the-go customer, the Rolltation Asian Eatery menu has evolved, with the assistance of professional food labs, to include pan-Asian bowls, poke bowls with fresh toppings, sauces, etc. along with the sushi burrito rolls. In late 2017, Rolltation introduced a franchise program and presently operates nine locations in Toronto and one in the food court at University of Waterloo in Southwestern Ontario. The chain is preparing to open locations shortly in downtown Toronto on the downtown PATH concourse at the Royal Bank Plaza and at the TD Centre. In addition, the company has secured its first location in Edmonton. The 1300 square foot location is expected to open in Summer 2026 and plans call for another five locations in Alberta for 2027. Business Development Officer Day Wong points out that Rolltation is continuing to source expansion opportunities in Ontario, west to Hamilton and East to Ottawa, and is also exploring the Alberta, British Columbia and Montreal markets. Operating in various formats, the chain’s food court model is in a 400 to 500 square foot range while the street front format is in the 1200 to 1500 square foot range with seating for about 30. Sites with venting are most ideal though the chain does operate ventless unit. Deven Chen at Deven Chen Real Estate is handling the site selection for Rolltation.
