Manmade is a Montreal-based men’s essentials brand founded as an online concept in 2021 by Anthony Ciavirella, Philip Santagata, Robert Marzin, and Roberto ‘Berto’ Rebelo, four friends who set out to reinvent the everyday basics. Starting with premium boxer briefs, the company built its reputation around soft plant-based modal fabric, breathable construction, and its signature ‘Mansack’ support design. Since launch, Manmade has expanded beyond underwear into pants, socks, T-shirts, and bundled wardrobe staples, positioning itself as a direct-to-consumer lifestyle label for men. In early May, Manmade opened its first permanent retail location, a 1121 square foot inline unit at Carrefour Laval in Laval that features its entire collection, and suggestions are to grow its in-person retail activity. Kathleen McGuigan at Oberfeld Snowcap has been retained to handle the site selection in Canada and the U.S. for Manmade, adding that the present focus remains on Canada. Manmade targets 1000 square foot locations in enclosed malls.
