Earlier in July, the Yogen Fruz, the frozen yogurt and smoothies brand, celebrated its 40th anniversary with the reopening of its first location at Promenade Shopping Centre in Thornhill. The 380 square foot location is on level one of the mall. From that first location, brothers Michael and Aaron Serruya opened in August 1986, the company has grown to become a global chain of over 1300 locations in more than 40 countries. The brand continues to grow with franchises operating in a variety of sites, depending on the market and availability. Street walk-in stores will operate in 500 to 1200 square feet, inline units in malls and mixed-use projects are in a 250 to 450 square foot range and kiosks are generally 100 to 200 square feet.
