Last week, Loblaw Company Ltd announced that a 13,000 square foot Maxi supermarket will open at Montreal’s former Forum at St Catherines St West and Atwater St. Construction is underway and the store is scheduled to open by the end of 2027. The multi-million-dollar investment will strengthen grocery offerings in one of the city’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods, serving residents, office workers and students. Senior Vice President Patrick Blanchette said the location reflects Maxi’s commitment to providing affordable groceries without sacrificing quality or selection. The new store continues the banner’s urban expansion strategy following recent openings on René-Lévesque Blvd, Plaza Saint-Hubert and in the Village, where demand for value-oriented grocery shopping has been strong. The Forum location will stock more than 6,000 Quebec products alongside multicultural foods, ready-to-eat meals, and natural and organic items tailored to the area’s diverse population.
