Mia, the Quebec City-based jewelry brand founded by Kim Labrecque in 2011, continues to expand its retail footprint with a new 160 square foot kiosk that opened last week in the upscale Place Ste-Foy in Quebec City. The opening brings Mia’s network to 15 shopping centre locations across Quebec. Mia has established a distinctive position with its modern, elevated kiosks and an affordable collection of allergy-free jewelry made primarily from high-quality surgical stainless steel. Products are designed to be durable, tarnish resistant and suitable for sensitive skin. Strong sales productivity and continued year-over-year growth have made Mia a growing concept. Labrecque, whose late father Marcel Labrecque founded the Bizou International jewelry brand, has built on his family’s jewelry and accessories legacy with Mia. Following its Quebec expansion, the company is now targeting Ontario, with Ottawa identified as its first market. Mia is also exploring opportunities in South Florida, while continuing to build its core Canadian business. Tony Flanz at Think Retail is handling the site selection for the Mia chain seeking kiosk locations in the super-regional malls. In addition to its retail network, Mia operates a wholesale business supplying approximately 80 distributors worldwide.
