Earlier in the Summer, Banff-based Big Bear Trading Co. opened a 2300 square foot Canot et Chalet/Canoe & Cabin store on St Paul St East in the tourist area in Old Montreal. The store features a large selection of Canadian-inspired apparel, t-shits, hoodies, souvenirs, heritage and nature goods, caps, lakeside living, gift items, accessories, maple-themed items, etc. Designed for tourist areas, the company is now sourcing a Canot et Chalet location in the Old Quebec tourist area in Quebec City. High traffic and highly visible units in the 1500 to 2500 square foot range are targeted. Manon Larose, Michelle Marcotte-Blart and Kayla Zakuta at Urban Reform Immobilier have been retained to handle the site selection. Launched in 2021, Big Bear Trading Co. has locations in Banff, Canmore and Whistler along with a growing online component featuring Canadian merchandise inspired by the Canadian Rockies and wildlife.
