Ajisen Ramen is preparing to enter the Ottawa market later this year with a 1500 square foot location on Marche Way in Lansdown Live in the heart of the Glebe neighbourhood. Ajisen Ramen is an established Japanese restaurant chain with a strong international presence and a growing Canadian footprint. Founded in 1968 in Kumamoto in Japan, the company expanded internationally and entered the Canadian market in 2005. One of the first Japanese ramen brands to establish a presence in Toronto, Ajisen is unique, featuring its authentic Kumamoto-style ramen, signature tonkotsu broth, proprietary noodles, and diverse menu offerings. In Canada, the brand has developed a network of about a dozen restaurants across Ontario, serving both traditional ramen and modern Japanese-inspired options. Its business model also emphasizes franchising, supported by training, marketing, and operational assistance. Additional expansion is underway, initially targeting the GTA markets such as Mississauga, Brampton, Etobicoke, etc. Discussions are presently underway for a couple of unidentified locations, and the chain expects to locate in the planned Toronto Premium Outlets expansion in Halton Hills next year. The Ajisen Ramen restaurants will operate in 2000 to 3000 square foot highly visible locations in prime centres and anchored plazas.
