Over the weekend, Barrio Burrito Bar opened its flagship location in Louisiana at the Perkins Rowe mixed-use lifestyle development in Baton Rouge. Marc Johnson and Jennifer Cortez-Johnson, the Master Franchisees for Louisiana and Alabama, opened the 1580 square foot location and they are also preparing to open a second 1600 square foot unit, with pick up window, later this year at Bluebonnet Square in Baton Rouge, an open centre located about ten-minutes north of Perkins Rowe. Barrio Burrito Bar is a quick-casual restaurant brand that features fresh, flavorful Mexican-inspired cuisine including burritos, bowls, tacos, and more. Focused on quality ingredients, bold flavors, and neighborhood connection, Barrio Burrito Bar continues to expand into new markets across the United States. Chief Development Officer Jeff Young notes that Barrio Burrito Bar has awarded 25 Master Franchise territories and continues to source 1200 to 1800 square foot highly visible locations, ideally in grocery-anchored shopping centers. Pad units and end caps are preferred, and prominent signage, convenient access, and strong daytime traffic are necessary. He adds that since its launch in the U.S. about six-years ago, the chain has now opened almost 25 locations in twelve state and is presently focusing on Upstate New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Central Florida, the Atlanta market in Georgia, Tennessee, Chicago in Illinois and the DFW market in Texas. Barrio Burrito Bar is an affiliate of the 20-year-old Toronto-based barBurrito chain with over 380 locations across Canada.
