Over the weekend, franchisees Bob Patel, Pranay Patel and Ashish Patel opened their second Barrio Burrito Bar in the growing Sunbury community in Central Ohio. The 1500 square foot inline unit in the grocery-anchored Sunbury Mills Shopping Center is the second of a three-unit agreement for the franchisees. It is the fifth locations in Ohio for the chain of quick casual restaurants known for its made-to-order burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and fresh ingredients in which guests the choice to build meals exactly the way they want them. “We’re excited to become part of the Sunbury community,” said Jeff Young, Chief Development Officer. “There’s so much energy and growth happening in the area, and we’re looking forward to welcoming guests, meeting our neighbors, and becoming a go-to spot for great food.” An affiliate of the 20-year-old Toronto-based barBurrito chain with over 380 locations across Canada, Barrio Burrito Bar opened in the U.S. in 2020 and now has about 22 locations in eleven states. In addition, about 20 more locations under development in the U.S. Young adds that Barrio Burrito Bar continues to source 1200 to 1800 square foot highly visible locations, ideally in grocery-anchored shopping centers. Pad units and end caps are preferred, and prominent signage, convenient access, and strong daytime traffic are necessary.
