Denny’s Canada has opened a new diner at Southland Mall at 2665 Gordon Rd., marking the brand’s second location in the city and fifth in Saskatchewan. The 5000 square foot pad opening strengthens Denny’s presence in the province, where it has served Regina customers since 2004. The restaurant is owned and operated by franchise partners Khushdil ‘Lucky’ Mehrok and Davinder Chandni, their first Denny’s location. The new diner features the brand’s ‘Familiar. Made Fresh.’ philosophy, offering its classic favourites menu. Open seven days a week, the restaurant caters to customers seeking all-day breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night dining in a welcoming atmosphere. Denny’s Canada continues to expand nationally while investing in the communities it serves. Headquartered in Vancouver, the company is part of family-owned Northland Properties Corp., which acquired the Canadian business in 1990. Denny’s Canada currently operates and franchises 89 diners nationwide, emphasizing quality food, value and guest satisfaction. Growth plans target freestanding pad locations and highly visible end cap sites. The target size is in the 3000 to 5000 square foot range.
Southland Mall is a 450,000 square foot enclosed regional mall at Gordon Rd and Albert St in Regina’s south end. With Denny’s opening, several CRU units in various formats are available in the mall ranging in size from 800 square feet to about 3600 square feet in addition to 270 to 380 square foot locations in the food court. Southland Mall is anchored by Canadian Tire, Cineplex and Safeway along with Indigo, SportChek, Shoppers Drug Mart, a Regina Public Library, etc. With easy access from Hwy 6, Hwy 11 and Lewvan Expressway, the mall caters to a population of over 81,000 people within a five-kilometre radius. The average household income in the area is over $120,000 per year and Southland Mall is the closest retail centre to the University of Regina.
