Earlier in the Summer, premium ice cream brand Made by Marcus hinted that another location was planned for northwest Calgary. In late August, the Calgary-based chain opened a 1060 square foot scoop shop at the Greenwich Village, steps from the Calgary Farmers’ Market West, the chain’s ninth location. From his first bricks & mortar scoop shop on 17th Ave SW in Calgary in 2016, food specialist Marcus Purtzki has built one of Western Canada’s most recognized premium ice cream brands. The company has become known in Canada’s artisanal ice cream sector for its small-batch ice cream crafted from scratch using dairy from grass-fed cows and high-quality ingredients sourced from local farmers, roasters, distillers, and artisans. In addition to its scoop shops in Calgary and Edmonton, the growing chain offers pints, ice cream cakes, catering services, workshops, and home delivery.
