Last week, Harden marked the official opening of the new IGA Extra supermarket at Faubourg Contrecœur in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve community in the southeast end of the Island of Montreal. As the complex’s anchor tenant, IGA Extra spans approximately 40,020 square feet and serves as the cornerstone of this neighbourhood retail destination. Spanning more 5.5-acreas, the project will deliver over 52,000 square feet of GLA, supported by sustainable design features including solar roofs, EV chargers, green spaces, bicycle paths, and 170 parking spaces. This opening marks an important milestone for Faubourg Contrecœur, whose retail offering is now fully leased. A joint venture with Crombie, Faubourg Contrecœur is entering its final phase of development, with construction progressing across the site. Once completed, the project will offer a diverse retail environment focused on essential everyday services while supporting the continued growth of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
