The Salvation Army Thrift Store is expanding its presence in Victoria with last week’s opening of the 8,300 square foot location at 3460 Quadra St. in the Saanich East/Quadra area. The new store is the organization’s second Victoria location and eighth on Vancouver Island, offering residents convenient access to affordable, gently used clothing, household goods, books, electronics and other merchandise. Proceeds from purchases support local Salvation Army programs, including food security, shelter and housing, rehabilitation and recovery services, and emergency disaster relief. “As interest in thrift shopping continues to grow, this new location will make it even easier for people to donate, shop with purpose, and help fund programs that provide practical support to those who need it most,” said Ted Troughton, Managing Director of The Salvation Army Thrift Store. The Salvation Army Thrift Store operates 98 locations across Canada and is one of the country’s largest textile collectors. Last year, its operations diverted more than 85 million pounds of donated items from landfills, supporting both community programs and textile reuse.
