
Japanese retail holding company Fast Retailing Co. Ltd. reports that its opens its second UNIQLO store in Winnipeg next week. The 15,000 square foot casual lifestyle brand with its latest LifeWear apparel for men, women, children and babies opens in the St Vital Centre. Introduced in Japan in 1984, UNIQLO now has over 2500 stores worldwide, including 38 in Canada. Later in the Fall, UNIQLO is scheduled to open stores in Quartier DIX30 in Brossard in Quebec, Tsawwassen Mills in Tsawwassen in British Columbia and in Ontario at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill and Conestoga Mall in Waterloo and the chain continues to add large-scale stores in key markets. UNIQLO stores operate in 15,000 to 40,000 square foot malls and high street locations. Jeff Berkowitz and Catherine Deslauriers at Aurora Retail Group is handling the site selection for the chain’s Canadian expansion. There are also over 80 Uniqlo stores open across the U.S. and in August, stores are scheduled to open in the Issaquah Commons in Issaquah in Washington and on M St NW in Georgetown in Washington DC.
