Immediately following Happy Belly Food Group’s announcement last week of its acquisition of the Ghost Taco quick casual restaurant chain through a joint venture, and the signing of a 45-unit area development agreement for the province of Ontario for Ghost Taco, later in the week, Happy Belly announced the signing of a 50-unit area development agreement for Western Canada for Ghost Taco. The agreement provides for the development of 25 new franchised Ghost Taco locations in Alberta and 25 units in British Columbia. “Western Canada represents a significant opportunity for Ghost Taco,” said Sean Black, CEO of Happy Belly. “We have signed seasoned QSR developer Stephen Travers as our Area Developer for Alberta and British Columbia, two markets where he has already demonstrated an exceptional ability to build and scale restaurant brands.” Ghost Taco operates in 800 to 1500 square foot locations and Travers at Ironstone Developments is handling the site selection.
