Studio Kiku, the Vancouver-based laser tattoo removal concept, has recently opened its first location in Ontario at the Tuscany Place centre at 3255 Rutherford Rd in Vaughan. At just over 1200 square feet, the unit is also the company’s first franchise. Founded by tattoo specialist Billy DeCota, Studio Kiku was introduced in Vancouver specializing in tattoo, permanent makeup and scalp micropigmentation removal using Candela’s PicoWay picosecond laser technology. After years of tattooing and performing scalp micropigmentation, DeCota recognized a need for a safe, dedicated removal service, and began offering laser tattoo removal out of his private tattoo studio in Burnaby. In 2019, he opened the flagship studio on East Broadway in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant area. Studio Kiku introduced a franchise program in 2023 and in Spring 2025, the company opened a second location opened in the Willoughby Town Centre in Langley in B.C. The chain is now pursuing further expansion with motivated entrepreneurs in Canada and the United States, with franchise opportunities available in several major markets. The studios will operate in highly visible 1000 to 1500 square foot street front and anchored open centre locations. Jamie Singer at Cushman & Wakefield is handling the site selection in Canada and the U.S. and adds that the present search is for early 2027 openings.
