Article Furniture, the growing chain of contemporary, mid-century, Scandinavian-inspired furniture, entered the Toronto market last week with a 9,600 square foot store at 90 Bathurst St at King St West in the West Queen West district. The opening comes just a month after the Vancouver-based company opened its first location in the U.S., a 7490 square foot location on Alameda St at Potrero Ave is in San Francisco’s Potrero Design District. Initially an online furniture concept, the 13-year-old Article opened its first bricks & mortar location in Fall 2024 on East Hastings St. in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood and earlier this year Co-founder and CEO Aamir Baig stated, “For more than a decade, Article succeeded through a digital-first model, meeting consumer demand for modern furniture online. Over the past 18 months, we’ve seen how physical retail can deepen customer connections and strengthen our presence in key markets. As we expand, we’ll focus on store locations in North American cities where e-commerce performance is already strong, using retail to build on that momentum and make it easier to experience Article in person.” In October, Article opens a second U.S. location in Bellevue in Washington. The 8240 square foot store is on the second level of the Lincoln Square North in the Bellevue Collection in downtown Bellevue.
