Over the weekend, Imaginaire, the family-owned Quebec City-based retailer of collectibles and pop culture merchandise, opened its seventh store and its first in Ontario.  And there was a $1-million Canadian coin from the Royal Canadian Mint on display.  The chain opened a 20,000 square foot two level store at the CF Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa.  The new location is adjacent to Simons on floors 3 and 4, and features a wide selection of products, including sports cards, board games, puzzles, trading cards, action figures, books, comics, graphic novels, manga, and other pop culture merchandise.  Imaginaire is also an authorized dealer of numismatic products by the Royal Canadian Mint.   Introduced in what was then Place Laurier in Quebec in 1986 by Benoit Doyan and his wife Mireille, the chain now also includes stores in Levis, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivieres, Montreal’s South Shore and Laval.  Michel Richard at Agence Alterimmo, who is handling the real estate for Imaginaire, adds that another opening is anticipated in Montreal shortly and the chain is looking into certain projects for 2025 and beyond.  Imaginaire also has an extensive eCommerce platform from its wide range of products and over 100,000 items in inventory.  And the large stores also host events and tournaments for board games, collectibles, etc.
