Quebec City-based restaurant group, The Abbatiello Group has acquired Shaker Cuisine & Mixologie, also a Quebec City-based company with over 20 restaurant/bars in Quebec specializing in cocktails, burgers and tartares. The eleven-year-old chain is opening two additional locations, in Shawinigan and Vaudreuil-Dorion shortly. The Abbatiello Group was formed in 2018, with five Abbatiello siblings acquiring the Pizza Salvatore family business and adding the Topla!, Jack le Coq, Crèmerie Chez Mamie and L’Oeufrier brands. Grapevine, Texas-based retail gaming and trade-in destination GameStop Corp. has made a non-binding $55.5 billion(US) bid to acquire eBay Inc, the California-based multinational eCommerce company, for $125 per share in a cash-and-stock deal, offering a 46 percent premium over eBay’s February 4, 2026 closing price. The proposal follows GameStop building a five percent economic stake in eBay and filing a Schedule 13D and HSR notification. The offer would be financed through GameStop’s $9.4 billion cash reserves and up to $20 billion in acquisition financing from TD Securities. As part of its global expansion strategy, Columbus, Ohio hotel chain Red Roof is expanding its footprint into the Canadian market with its first property in Vancouver.
